Congratulations to 11 year old Alex Lemke of Stanwood. He was crowned the champion of the Stanwood – Camano All-American Soap Box Derby this week and will now go onto Akron, Ohion later next month to compete in the World Championship. What a high for a kid! To win a race and go to the nationals in car they built! Although, it is a little funny. These race cars that the kids fly down the hills in are made from plastic kits that cost about 450 bucks. They are anything except old tossed out soap boxes with wheels! In fact, I dare you to find anybody under the age of 60 who knows what a soap box even is!
The city council in Brooksville, Florida has recently approved a dress code that instructs employees to observe “strict personal hygiene” which includes wearing deodorant and the wearing of underwear. I’m sure nobody will have a huge problem with slapping on some smell-good, but the underwear might be a problem. I mean think of the poor city plumbers….
Science has discovered that the secret to getting someone to do something… All you have to do is to ask them in their right ear. Research shows that people prefer to be addressed in their right ear because they will find it easier to process the information and are therefore more likely to perform a task. Known as the "right ear advantage", scientists believe it's because information received through the right ear is processed by the left hand side of the brain which is more logical and better at deciphering verbal information than the right side of the brain. So see, all these years it wasn’t that the TV was on and that we’ve been ignoring you until commercial breaks ladies, it’s because you haven’t been telling us stuff in our right ears!
It may be the world's first case of someone twittering themselves to death. The tragic incident happened in Romania, when 17-year-old Maria Barbu made the very bad decision to twitter while taking a bath. Unfortunately she dropped her laptop in the water and electrocuted herself to death. She was found by her parents in the tub with her laptop lying next to her. Police believe she may have tried to plug in the laptop with her wet hands after her battery died during a long Twitter session.
Thanks to a surrogate, Sarah Jessica Parker is now the mother of twins. Cute little things. She's named them Mahnolo and Blahnik.
Kodak has announced they will no longer make Kodachrome film. Poor Paul Simon. First Garfunkel, then his hair. Now, this.
